This is Sauvignon Blanc from Burgundy, a wine region justly famous for its spectacular Chardonnay-based wines. So this Sauvignon Blanc from the Saint-Bris appellation is an oddity in Bourgogne as it is the only appellation growing this varietal. However, Saint-Bris is twice as far from Beaune as it is from Sancerre and has a similar terroir to much of the Loire Valley, which goes some way to explaining why Sauvignon Blanc performs so well there. This appealing, refreshing Sauvignon has an inviting floral, herbal and citrus nose; the palate is zesty and vibrant with a refreshing finish. It is produced by one of the finest negociant houses in Burgundy, La Chablisienne, which was established in 1923 and spans over 200 winegrowing families and 1,200 hectares of superior vineyard holdings and is known for producing some of the top wines in Chablis and Bourgogne. Enjoy this delightful Sauvignon Blanc as an aperitif, or pair with salads, seafood, charcuterie, poultry and most vegetables.
