The Pagliarese family has been firmly rooted in Chianti since the 1200s, and became one of the most prominent winemaking families in the area. Despite being one of most recognizable Chianti’s in the 1970s and 1980s the estate was unfortunately forced to close its doors. In 1995 the Poggiagli family acquired the estate, vineyards, and winemaking equipment. They have since launched an ambitious project to bring Pagliarese back to prominence with wines deserving of the name. Finally in the 2015 harvest, all the hard work bore fruit. This high-quality Chianti is elegant, beautifully perfumed, and classic in style. Sangiovese based, with a bit of Canaiolo, Mammolo, and Colorino; a traditional blend that was then aged in cask before bottling. Sumptuous black cherry notes, crushed slate, violets, and forest floor. Not overbearing or New World in style, pair this beautiful wine with pasta Bolognese, gamey dishes like wild boar, and Pecorino cheese!
