Sangiovese from the famous Montalcino region in Tuscany sourced from young vines on the Innocenti Estate known for their powerful Brunello di Montalcino. The 'Lume' is their introductory level wine, both affordable and impressive with its warmth, generosity, and classic Sangiovese profile. This is pure unwooded Sangiovese fermented in temperature-controlled tanks with frequent pump overs to extract color, tannins, and aromatic compounds from the skins. After bottling the wine is aged for a year before release. The results are delightful. Aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and dried cherry mingle with nuances of violet, iris and aromatic herbs rise from the glass. Medium bodied on the palate with a fresh acidity and long finish. This is a fantastic wine for pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces, roast pork, and, of course, pizza.
