Elegant and refined, this exquisite right-bank Bordeaux is perfect for the holiday season, either on the table to pair with the one of the seasonal feasts, or as a gift to a wine-loving friend or family member. We were specifically looking for a wine from the 2019 vintage which is recognized as a great vintage across the entire Bordeaux region, capable of long-term aging. The vineyards of Château Côte de Baleau are planted to 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. A total of 17 hectares are cultivated within the Saint-Emilion appellation, 14 hectares of which have been recently awarded the coveted Grand Cru Classé status. Make sure to open this wine well in advance of the meal so that it can develop its full potential. This wine has received very high critical praise from a number of wine publications including 94 Points from Vinous Media that describes it thus: “The 2019 Cote de Baleau takes quite a few minutes to settle in the glass. It has a very concentrated bouquet of black cherries, mulberry, touches of licorice and hints of graphite. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy black fruit and fine definition. Very focused, with a sensual and substantial finish. Superb.” We think you will concur.
