Made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape, this classic Muscadet is a perfect summer wine! Valton Freres’ vineyards are located in the sub-region of Clisson, which is known to produce some of the top “cru” wines from this appellation where the vines are rooted primarily in granitic soils. Bulk Muscadet tends to be racy, high acid, and simple stylistically; this wine is anything but simple. With two years’ worth of lees aging, Chateau L’Anglican has rich and complex aromas and a fuller body on the palate. Showing notes of Granny Smith apples, cantaloupe, and lemongrass, tied together with a brisling minerality thanks to both its time on the lees and generous bottle aging. A quintessential oyster wine, but can easily pair with most chicken dishes, and even go well with moderately spicy curries.
