The Willamette Valley is sixty miles wide and more than one hundred miles long. It is situated between the Oregon Coast Range to the west and the Cascade Mountains to the east. The coastal breezes and abundant sunshine have made it a perfect location for growing finicky Pinot Noir grapes for decades. Ken Wright is one of the founding pioneers from the Willamette and his winemaking skills are only matched (and maybe even exceeded) by his deep knowledge of the terroirs of the Willamette Valley. Ken has produced as many as seventeen different cuvees over the years. Recently he has added an organic blend, made with grapes from all his different plots. This is it! Earth, leather, and smoke on the nose give a hint of what is to come on the palate. The first tastes are cherry and raspberry, then vanilla and cola round things out. A long finish with a touch of cranberry makes this a perfect match for roast poultry and a classic pairing with a boeuf bourguignon.
