Emrich-Schonleber is one of the truly elite German wine estates producing a range of stunning wines from the famed Nahe region of Germany. Best known for his world class Rieslings this wine is made from a lesser know grape: Rivaner (better known as Muller-Thurgau). A cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royal, Muller-Thurgau vines have the ability to be hyper-productive, and unfortunately these high yielding vines can produce somewhat boring wines. That said, quality minded wineries can offer Müller-Thurgau with the same complexity as fine Riesling and this is definitely one of those. Grown in various parcels surrounding Monzingen mostly on slate, this Rivaner is super aromatic with fresh fruit and a deep minerality and slight cooling almost green peppercorn spiciness. Incredibly versatile at the table this wine pairs so well with roast veggies, shellfish, soft cheeses, poultry, veal and is a decadent partner with Thai or Cambodian dishes!
