This unoaked blend of 75% Viura 20% Malvasía 5% Tempranillo Blanco, sourced exclusively from the estate’s own vineyards, is an ideal wine for the fresh vegetables, fruits and lighter meats and fish that our springtime cuisines naturally shift towards as the days lengthen and the sun climbs higher in the sky. Fermented entirely in stainless steel, with some lees contact which infuses some added complexity; hints of warmed milk and a touch of nuttiness. The significant amount of Malvasia brings the fruit and floral notes of this wine forward, while the Viura adds cut and vigor. The Tempranillo Blanco is wonderful reminder that nature is capricious. It arose as a spontaneous mutation of the dark-skinned Tempranillo that occurred in 1988 in a Rioja vineyard. Since then, this ‘genetic mistake’ was propagated, cloned and given official recognition in 2007. This dark-skinned to light skinned DNA copying error has occurred several times over the history of viticulture. Examples include Grenache to Grenache Blanc, Pinot Noir to Pinot Blanc. There is, therefore, some wine-making history in your glass where this beautiful white presents a captivating pale-yellow color with greenish highlights. Clean and bright. It offers an intense and refreshing aroma, dominated by white fruit, especially pear, followed by stone fruits and citrus touches, complemented by soft nuances of aromatic herbs and white flower. On the palate, it stands out for its tasty entry, loaded with fresh fruit and a smooth texture, culminating in a persistent aftertaste and perfectly balanced acidity. It is an ideal match for grilled fish, salads, and vegetables, as well as pasta dishes and shellfish.
