Set in the middle of the Serralada de Marina Natural Park, Alta Alella is steps from the sea, and only a few miles from Barcelona. Family-run, Alta Alella have built their reputation producing a range of still and sparkling wines of great transparency. They aim for lightness, clarity, and precision, with an overriding love of, and respect for, nature. Cava, for many Americans, has become the base of sparkling cocktails and the go-to affordable Champagne substitute when in need of something that goes “pop” when you open it. But Cava has within it the potential for real seriousness as well. “Mirgin” is just that: pure and elegant, yet snappy and bright with classic tones of brioche, lemon curd, quince, and tense mineral backbone. “Brut Nature” is as dry as they come, and Alta Alella is entirely organic as well! “Mirgin” will be particularly well-suited to fried foods, particularly chicken. It will also go swimmingly with fresh cheeses, scrambled eggs in all forms, and whipped potatoes.
