This is a remarkable value coming from the Pedroncelli winery – family owned for 95+ years. The Pedroncelli family have been farming grapes and making exceptional wines in the Dry Creek area for nearly a century, and that longevity of ownership is rare in California. This is a blend of estate grown Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer from long-time grower: the Frank Johnson Vineyard. Both grapes are known as highly aromatic and so is this blend of the two. We were stunned by the quality of this wine for the money, an exceptional wine that is very food friendly that is also easy to enjoy on its own. Very fragrant on the nose showing passion fruit with citrus and floral notes. Bright flavors of pineapple guava, rich honey, and a hint of grassiness. The refreshing finish is framed by bright acidity. The wine is light and crisp. This is a white wine to enjoy on its own or with dishes that have some spicy heat like curried chicken or Thai shrimp salad. Pairs even better with your glass on the deck around sunset ….
