This is one of the finest examples of Verdejo available, combining intense citrus and herbaceous elements backed with a bracing acidity that is balanced by an unctuous mid-palate owing to aeging the wine on its fine lees. Named after the ancient Martinsancho vineyard with 150+ year old vines. Cuttings from this old vineyard were used in the 1970s to create the vineyards that make up the bulk of the estate. Brilliant straw-yellow in color with aromas of lemon, lemon zest, white flowers and herbacious notes. On the palate the refreshing acidity is balanced by a juicy rich mid-palate with Meyer lemon, white peach and pear flavors. The herbal and floral notes repeat on a long, smooth, lively finish that shows no rough edges. Another great choice for Thanksgiving try this also with salmon, Mahi Mahi or flounder simply pan fried in a beurre blanc. Salads with grilled chicken, asparagus or toasted almonds would also pair well, as well as soft, ripe cheeses.
